Chiropractic Care, Does it Really Work??

That was my first thought when a friend introduced me to chiropractic while I was in my early 20's.  I really didn't think it could.

My friend started me on a chiropractic program and I agreed to follow up when I returned home to Wisconsin.  Within two months my intestinal problems subsided and I was able to stop using medications.  While under care I began to look into the profession.  As I did, I became more convinced chiropractic should be part of everyone's healthcare.  I soon enrolled in chiropractic school and started on my way to become a Doctor of Chiropractic.

I grew up in Portage, Wisconsin.  I went on to the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology and psychology with a minor in social work.  My intention was to become a social worker, but that is where I was introduced to chiropractic and began my chiropractic career.  I graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College as a Doctor of Chiropractic-Magna Cum Laude.  While in school I studied the Gonstead system of Chiropractic working my way to an executive position in the Gonstead Student Chiropractic Association.  I also attended as many Gonstead conferences as possible.  I was the recipient of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association Scholarship and the Palmer Merit Scholarship three times.  I continue to attend regular Gonstead conferences as well as many other continuing educational conferences.

Our practice philosophy is simple.  We strive to provide the best chiropractic care. We work hard to educate our patients regarding the benefits of the chiropractic lifestyle and home care to ensure the best results possible.  I practice the Gonstead specific chiropractic system.  Our office is the only office in northwest Indiana which uses this system.  It is a system which is taught in all chiropractic colleges but takes a great deal more time to become proficient.  This system includes very thorough procedures for the analysis and treatment of spinal and extremity disorders.

A Chiropractic Family

I am also active outside the office.  I am a husband and father of three children.  I am on the board of directors for the the Cedar Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Cedar Lake Enhancement Association.  I am also a member of the board of managers for the Cedar Lake Boys and Girls Club as well as a member of the Cedar Lake Lions Club.  I am a supporter of Hanover Central Athletics.  My family and I are parishioners of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Crown Point.  I also enjoy fishing, curling, running and hockey.

I sincerely hope you visit our office so you can experience specific Gonstead Chiropractic care.  Your health relies on your nervous system.  Spinal subluxations/misalignment's pinch or choke your nervous system which can create many health problems.  Chiropractic adjustments remove the spinal subluxations allowing your nervous system, and your body, to work at its optimum.

Dr. Scott Asks some important questions of interest to Cedar Lake residents - Chiropractor Cedar Lake Dr. Scott Asks...

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
How does headache medication find the headache?
It can't! Chiropractors know that when you ingest a drug and it enters your bloodstream it numbs or deadens your entire body. Chiropractic adjustments, on the other hand, are specific, targeted and delivered with precision.
